Louis Armstrong’s music is just plain FUN! Yes he was foundational in the development of Jazz and modern music, yes he was a trumpet virtuoso, yes he was a magnetic personality that drew people together from all different backgrounds, and we love him for all of this. We will celebrate him for all of this by having pure fun exploring his sound for you as we celebrate him.
We Rise As One! A Premiere of a new Latin Jazz Suite by Johnny Summers. Join us as we present this work that ranges musical styles from Latin America and fuze them with the sounds of the history of Jazz. Featuring special guest musicians Esteban Herrara - piano, Gisela Romero - vocals, Raul Tabera - congas and more!

Oscar Peterson’s Canadiana Suite arranged by Johnny Summers.
We will take you on a musical journey that Mr. Peterson designed in 1965 as he envisioned traveling by rail across this great country. Arranged and orchestrated by Mr. Summers to feature the Calgary Jazz Orchestra especially for you, we will celebrate this iconic and swingingly musical work by one of Canada’s Greatest musicians. Through the gorgeous ballads, slow swinging blues and up tempo bebop language of this master.
