Land's End Chamber Music Society Presents Workers Students Union

Thursday, February 22, 2025
Pre-concert chat at 6:45pm
Concert at 7:30pm
Continuing our partnership with Mount Royal University’s Conservatory, we are thrilled to present our second concert of our residency featuring students of their program! After our successful concert last season, we bring you more exciting works that push the boundaries of today’s performance practices and sonic experiences. Featured works include Steve Reich’s classic work Clapping Music, Osvaldo Golijov’s haunting Deaths of the Angels, and Mary Kouyoumdjian’s Moerae inspired by the Greek mythology of the three fates. Also featured is the world premiere of Dragonfly by Michael van der Sloot, Vincent Ho’s Four Paintings By Leestemaker, and the world premiere of A Species of Wonder for trio and spatialized strings by Juno Award-winner Allan Gordon Bell. This all culminates to the grand finale: Louis Andriessen’s colossal (and politically-influenced) work Workers Union, written for "any loud sounding group of instruments" and featuring all performers on stage!
