Louder Than Words: Presented by New West Symphony & Chorus and New West Student Ensemble
New West is thrilled to present Louder Than Words: Music of Musicals. Our annual spring concert has become a traditional season-ending celebration, and we can’t wait to have you join us as we perform a wide variety of songs that have been featured in a myriad of musicals from both the Broadway stage and the movie-screen.
New West Symphony & Chorus is under the direction of Henric Ideström and Jerry Proppe. Founded in February 2010, this community-based choir and orchestra typically performs an average of fifteen full-length concerts per season at various venues in and around Calgary.
This year we will be joined for the first time at our spring concert by New West Student Ensemble, under the musical direction of David Klob and Matthew Ellis. Just ending its inaugural season, New West Student Ensemble is a dynamic youth choir and orchestra for students in Grades 7 through 12.
The vision of both ensembles is to "bless people of all ages, leading them to experience love through music, community, and compassionate giving." As a registered charity, New West Society supports and partners with local and global organizations seeking to make a difference in our world through supporting vulnerable people. So far this season, "New West Gives Back" has partnered with Gear Up for Winter, a local agency that gives practical, compassionate assistance to homeless youth, and HART, a Humanitarian agency that is providing direct support to refugees and people who have been tragically displaced by the war in Ukraine.
